George Edwin 'Ted' Barrett married in Hertfordshire in 1942 and 19 months later died from wounds in Italy.

Died from wounds in Italy. Aged 22

Ted was born in the Chelmsford registration district in 1921.

He was the son of Charles Barrett and Katie Barrett (nee Tiplady). His siblings included Joyous Merinda Barrett (1912-2004) and Millicent Mary Barrett (1923-2002).

Ted served as Fusillier 864641 in the 1st Battalion of the Royal Fusilliers (City of London Regiment).

On 22nd April 1942 Ted married Jean Ward in Ware in Hertfordshire.

He died from wounds on 28th November 1943. Today he lies in grave XI. E. 4. in the Sangro River War Cemetery in Italy.

He is commemorated on the Broomfield British Legion war memorial.
