Thomas William 'Tom' Gale lived in Prykes Drive in Chelmsford and worked at the town's Hoffmann bearings works. During the war he served with R.A.F. Coastal Command. He was fatally injured in August 1944 by the rotating propellor of a Catalina flying boat in Northern Ireland.

Tom worked for the Chelmsford ball-bearings manufacturer, Hoffmann's and lived at 26 Prykes Drive in Chelmsford.

During the Second World War Tom served as Flight Sergeant (Air Gunner) 1294335 in the Royal Air Force's Coastal Command. He died on 21st August 1944 having been fatally injured by a rotating propellor of a Catalina flying boat.

Today he lies in Irvinestown Church of Ireland Churchyard, County Fermanagh. (Plot 2. Grave 54).
