Henry Smith who was born in Bombay, India, lived in Chelmsford and enlisted at Warley. He went to France on 22nd August 1914. He died from wounds on 8th November 1914 while serving as Private 8023 Smith in the 2nd Battalion of the Essex Regiment. He is buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery (Nord) (Grave: B. 18). He was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914 Star medals.

Henry Smith who was born and lived in Thaxted, and enlisted at Chelmsford. He died from wounds on 15th May 1915 while serving as Private 18613 Smith in the 2nd Battalion of the Essex Regiment. He is buried at Hop Store Cemetery (Plot 1. Row D. Grave 19). He was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914 Star medals.
